Club America is in Peru, and barring any miracle 6 goal blowout, will qualify for the group stage of Copa Libertadores after their game with Sporting Cristal.

Saritama lands with Eagles

With the Copa Libertadores in mind, America’s Aguilas have signed Luis Fernando Saritama a four year deal. The Ecuadorian midfielder will play Copa Libertadores matches ONLY throughout the Clausura season, but should join the regular team for league matches by the Aperatura season.

Road to the Copa (Libertadores, that is)

Mexico’s InterLiga competition begins on Wednesday, January 3rd. Two coveted spots in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition (sort of like the UEFA Champions League, just more competitive) are up for grabs. In Group A are Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Necaxa and Tigres. Group B consists of América, Jaguares, Morelia and Tecos.
