America Strikes Back

By: Darius | November 27th, 2006

americliguillaAmerica bounced back from a three goal deficit to draw 3-3 at home against Atlas and advance to the semifinals.

Atlas raced to the 3-0 lead in under 57 minutes, but a timely substitution by America coach Luis Fernando Tena, who brought on Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Nelson Cuevas, swung the game in the Eagles’ favor.

The win sets up a titanic match-up between two of Mexico’s most popular teams: Las Aguilas from Mexico City, and Chivas from Guadalajara.

Pachuca plays Toluca in the other semifinal match-up.
