And Then There Were Two
By: Darius | November 1st, 2006
While he still refuses to name names, FMF general secretary Decio de Maria confirmed yesterday that he’s down to two candidates for the position of Mexican national team coach.
Who those two men are is anyone’s guess, but the Mexican dailies are speculating it’s current Toluca coach Americo Gallego and former UNAM coach Hugo Sanchez.
Gallego’s fate may rest on how the Red Devils perform tonight when they host Argentine side San Lorenzo in their second-leg Copa Sudamericana clash. A victory over the Argentine side (who take take a 3-1 lead into the game) may very well guarantee Gallego the position, if he is indeed in the running.
The comittee expects to make a decision sometime next week.
