Chivas Overcome Their Demons

campeonChivas claimed their record 11th Mexican championship this past Sunday with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Toluca at Nemesio Díez Stadium.

The historic win is only their third in 36 years and second since the league switched to short tournaments (Apertura and Clausura) in 1996.

What also made for a story-book ending was whereChivas won it. The Sacred Herd had not won at Toluca since April 1997, a 15-game span that included nine straight losses. Chivas players had dubbed the Toluca Stadium “hell.”
