Cruz Azul Through to Playoffs
By: Darius | November 6th, 2006
It’s crunch time in Mexico, and I’m not talking about hard-shell tacos. Round 16 of the Aperatura has come and gone, and only Cruz Azul has secured a place in the “Liguilla” playoffs.
The “Boys in Blue” guaranteed themselves a top-two finish in Group One by drawing 1-1 with Toluca on Sunday. Argentine forward Cesar Delgado fired a loose ball passed Toluca goalie Hernán Cristante and blasted his team into the post-season.
Toluca head Group Three with 27 points, but are just one point ahead of America, who drew 0-0 at Atlante, and UNAM, who gutted out a 1-0 at San Luis.
