Cruz Azul update
By: Chris | May 19th, 2007The trials of Cruz Azul, who I mentioned in yesterday’s post, have taken a turn for the worst, as the Mexican press is reporting that the team has been eliminated from the Clausura semifinals.
The suspension only lasts for one game, but with the team’s next game being the return leg of the semifinals tomorrow at Pachuca.
This means that Pachuca automatically advances and will play the winner of the Chivas-América tie.
The FMF is also exploring economic compensation for Pachuca, as they will miss out on hosting the Cruz Azul game.
More on this to come…

Although I am anti-Cruz Azul (sort of) this is kind of unfair.. The FMF gave them the thumbs-up and they’re only doing this to get a lesser punishment by FIFA.
Football can be so corrupt.

Although I agree that the FMF are no anglels, Cruz Azul’s actions for dressing and competing with a player is beyond reprehensible. Every excuse they doled out in their press conference was childish at best. How hard is it to find a lawyer in Mexico City that speaks English? Cruz Azul deserves everything it has coming to them for this incredulously stupid act.
