Eagles Soar into “La Liguilla”

America punched their ticket to the “Liguilla” playoffs by downing the Monarchs of Morelia 2-1 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on Saturday.

Both teams came out of the blocks in a hurry. America drew first blood in the seventh minute through Argentine forward Claudio Lopez, while Morelia’s Luis Gabriel Rey responded a minute later.

Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas broke the deadline in the 78th minute and powered Las Aguilas into the Mexican Championship playoffs.

With the loss, Morelia fail to qualify for the Liguilla or Liguilla qualies.
