El Maestro Has Arrived
By: mirna | August 28th, 2007
Cesar Luis Menotti, one of the best known coaches to come from Argentina, has returned Mexico to try to help Tecos out of the sitaution they are in. Would he be able to? That’s up to time to tell but personally, I think that it is extremely difficult to become a winning club with just a coaching change but then again, Menotti has been able to help many other clubs/temas during his career.
I hope he is welcomed in a better way that he was dismissed the last time around but it is a positive for this league to have such a coach and mentor, someone who can share in experiences that many don’t have and certainly, to teach. He is afterall, el Maestro.
As we can all imagine, a hiring like this is full of controversy. How much will he get paid? Is he really up to be more than just a coach who motivates and not really teaches? How will the TV conglomerate that kicked him out of the NT in years past treat him now? Well, it is a different time and I think that he will be given a chance. Are his best years behind him? Maybe, but we do have to remember that experience means something. Menotti knows how to manage great teams…let’s think Argentina’s NT in 1978. Menotti is a World Cup champion…how many can say that?
Let’s give El Maestro an opportunity to show what he can do. How much will Tecos improve under Menotti? I don’t know but I hope for the best…for Tecos fan’s sake.

Not bad for Mr. Menotti. Let’s see what he can do…although, like I said, it is rarely the answer but who knows. Even Teco’s fans are not thrilled about his arrival. Time will tell.
