Here Comes El Tri 2.0
By: mirna | August 31st, 2007
MNT Manager, Hugo Sanchez, has released the player’s roster that will face Panama and Brazil in September. As I mentioned yesterday, Rafa Marquez is not part of this team as Hugo looks to give other players an opportunity to play for El Tri. Some of these guys come from the U-17 team as well as the U-20. The roster also includes fan’s favorite Guardado, Ochoa and Castillo.
I am glad Hugo is giving these young guys a chance because thinking ahead to 2010 is important. Hugo is looking at the Olympics but I am sure the WC is on his mind as well. Plus, it will be fun to see Giovani against Brazil. I just can’t wait!
Any predictions for the Brazil game? I am having a tough time with this one. Brazil comes with their A team but you never know. Your thoughts?
So here’s the roster:
Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (América), Luis Michel (Guadalajara), Alfonso Blanco (Pachuca) and Sergio Arias (Culiacán).
Defenders: Johnny Magallón, Omar Esparza and Edgar MejÃa (Guadalajara), Israel Castro y Héctor Moreno (Pumas UNAM), Julio DomÃnguez (Cruz Azul), Adrián Aldrete (Morelia), Fausto Pinto (Pachuca) and Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven)
Midfielders: Emmanuel Cerda (Tigres), José Guerrero (Atlante), Jaime Correa and Gerardo RodrÃguez, (Pachuca), Patricio Araujo (Guadalajara), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Jorge Hernández (Atlas), Edgar Castillo (Santos), Fernando Arce (Morelia) and Andrés Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña).
Forwards: Luis LandÃn (Morelia), Nery Castillo (Shakhtar Donetsk), Giovani Dos Santos (Barcelona), Cesar Villaluz (Cruz Azul), Carlos Vela (Osasuna), Juan Carlos Mosqueda (América) and Juan Carlos Cacho (Pachuca).
