Hoping for a Miracle

By: Darius | October 26th, 2006

tecosUAG’s Owls are hoping for a bit of luck and divine intervention this weekend in their Jornada 15 clash with America.

And who better to bring that luck than the Virgin of Zapopan?

Priests from a local parish brought the 10-inch-high, corn-paste statue to an UAG practice session this week. The statue is venerated as a source of many miracles.

A miracle may be just what the witch doctor ordered. “Los Tecos” are dead last in the Group 2 standings and will need to win their remaining three games to have a chance at making the “Liguilla” playoffs. Considering they trail fifth-place Veracruz by NINE points and would need every other team in their group to drop their next three games (or just drop dead period), rhe Owls would be up there with Lazarus himself if they can pull off a comeback this late in the season.
