Is There a Doctor in the House?

By: mirna | August 31st, 2007

medicinesymbol_image2.jpgLast night, I was watching “Futbol Picante” on ESPN Deportes and the panel was discussing the issue of medical staff availability at the different stadiums through Mexico. It felt like they read my mind, because since Antonio Puerta’s passing, I’ve been wondering, is there enough medical staff and/or a way to deal a situation like Puerta’s in Mexican Stadiums?

The panel mentioned that the FMF itself doesn’t have a head of medicine issues. There’s no doctor in sight at FMF to deal with the issues that affect each team and the national teams as well. The last person in that role left after the doping scandal. Hmmm…that left me thinking, is anyone worried here?

It turns out that the “doctor” at America doesn’t have a degree in medicine. Ok…enough, what is everyone thinking? This is an issue that everyone needs to take seriously. Some of the teams do have qualified staff but some of them have just trainers…no one qualified to deal with heart issues. Should there be one? I think so but then again a qualified doctor and an ambulance will do.

I know I am a little sensitive about this but the FMF should pay close attention to this issue. For the sake of every player out there.

Hi, I am about to begin work for a football management computer game who want me to research Mexican football, would anyone be able to send me a set of rules for the League system there. I am confused as to whether it is a simple 18 team league or split in groups. Also can anyone tell me what is the rule concerning U21 players within the squad / team?

Thanks for any help in advance, I want to make the game as realistic as possible for those fans of Mexican football.

    With regards

    Christian -

Let me see what I can find for you. Maybe other folks know more about this but let me research it and see if I can find something.

I think the rule for under21 players is they have to play a specific amount of minutes during the whole season or else the team gets penalized 3 points. I can’t really remember the number of minutes though, and yeah they are split into groups.
