Nery Castillo Debuts in the Champions League (Well Sort of)
By: mirna | August 29th, 2007
I got to admit that I am not the biggest Nery Castillo fan. I just never really gotten that excited over him as others have but I love talent and I am glad everytime I see it. Nery had a very nice game with a goal (it was a penalty kick) and a decent 20+ minutes in. It was his debut in the Champions League (well, the preliminary games before the competition) with his new team, Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine. Counting Nery, there will be six Mexican players in the Champions League this year (if all goes well) including Rafael Márquez and Giovani Dos Santos (Barcelona), Pável Pardo and Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart ), and Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven).
Good luck to them all!

Shakhtar have spent heavily in this summer and assembled very good team. It will be very good for Nery if he performs well. And CL being the biggest stage so that he can leave a stamp on world football.
BTW, do give your predictions for group stages in my blog.:)Posted from

nary is probably the best mexican foward right now…and alot of people have recognized that. mexico also has great defenders. like for example rafael marces, ricardo osorio, and of course my favorite, coming from chivas, carlos salcido. i think mexico by 2010, is going to in its best shape the world’s has ever seen by them. and with hugo sanches, they are going to do an amazing job at the fifa world cup 2010. – juan c. torres
