Road to the Copa (Libertadores, that is)
By: Darius | January 1st, 2007
Mexico’s InterLiga competition begins on Wednesday, January 3rd. Two coveted spots in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition (sort of like the UEFA Champions League, just more competitive) are up for grabs. In Group A are Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Necaxa and Tigres. Group B consists of América, Jaguares, Morelia and Tecos.
Notably absent from the tourney are Toluca, Pachuca and Chivas. The Red Devils have already qualified for the CL. Clausura champs Pachuca and Aperatura winners Chivas are excluded from the InterLiga, as they qualify for the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup.
