Score One for the Goats

In a match between two of Mexico’s post popular teams, Chivas de Guadalajara downed America 2-0 last night at Jalisco Stadium in the first leg of their semifinals clash.
The 194th edition of the Mexican super clasico featured its fair share of goals, penalties, controversial calls and cry babies.
Ramon Morales opened the scoring for Chivas by drilling home a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
Omar Bravo’s header just seven minutes later sealed the deal for the Goats.
America forward Salvador Cabañas was awarded a controversial penalty just minutes before full-time but failed to convert.
Chivas should feel confident on the bus ride to Mexico City, but a 2-goal lead is hardly insurmountable, as America proved last weekend, when they came back from a 3-goal deficit to down Atlas in the quarterfinals. The Eagles have history on their side as well: In 17 liguilla encounters, America has won 11 times.
The second leg will played played on Sunday in Mexico City in front of an expected crowd of 115,000.
