Staying Put

By: Darius | December 16th, 2006

saritamaAfter a rather forgetful Aperatura 2006 (three wins in 17 games), UANL is looking to revamp. And while heads are sure to be rolling any day now, Ecuadorian midfielder Luis Saritama is confident his dome won’t on the chopping block.

“I want what’s best for Tigres, and what’s best for me. I believe returning to UANL would be the best for both of us,” he told Mediotiempo.com earlier this week.

Several teams, including Chiapas’ Jaguares and Ecuadorian powerhouse LDU Quito have expressed interest in the 23-year-old. Sari’s contract is valid through June 2007, but Tigres do have the option of selling him.

I’ve seen Saritama play several times, including in a tune-up game to the World Cup. He’s super quick and can go from an offensive threat to defensive blocker with ease. At only 23, he seems to be coming into his own, and I’m sure he can prove his worth if Tigres give him another chance.
