No Rafa for Us
By: mirna | August 30th, 2007
ESPN Deportes is reporting today that Rafael Marquez will not be part of el Tri when it faces Panama and Brazil in September. The report mentions that it was confirmed to them by their sources that Rafa will not be part of the team, even when his Barcelona teammate will travel and be part of the Brazil squad.
Hmmm…interesting news. I wonder what is going on here. It might be that Hugo wants to give a chance to other players or it might be that Rafa just doesn’t want to play for the national team.
What do you think?

I think Rafa is sick of traveling across the Atlantic to play in exhibition games in the middle of his club season.

But if he refuses to play for his national team then according FIFA they may ban him subject to Mexican Football Association complaints to FIFA.
It seems that your manager has agreed with Rafa too!!

Adam,
You are right. I think there is something going on behind the scenes where Hugo agrees for them not to play so not to make it a scandal and have anyone banned.
On the positive side, it gives others a chance to play and show what they can do.

Hi, I am about to begin work for a football management computer game who want me to research Mexican football, would anyone be able to send me a set of rules for the League system there. I am confused as to whether it is a simple 18 team league or split in groups. Also can anyone tell me what is the rule concerning U21 players within the squad / team?
Thanks for any help in advance, I want to make the game as realistic as possible for those fans of Mexican football.
With regards
CChristian

Christian –
I found the official rules of the FMF for the its First Division but it is in Spanish. I can’t find it in English. If it helps, the link is:
http://www.femexfut.org.mx/portalv2/(ebpo1y55p2wpedqh0ybyqc55)/default.aspx
The First Division is divided into 3 groups with 6 teams each.
Hope it helps!
