Libertadores: America dissapoints once again
By: Albert | March 27th, 2008America loses to San Martin of Peru, in Peru lastnight. The Aguilas are still in 2nd place but only by goal differential of 1. The group has tightened. River Plate leads with 9 points, America and San Martin with 6 and Catolica with only 3.
The lone goal scored was by Mario Leguizamón who shot a smoker from mid range that went just above Guillermo Ochoa’s reach and into the net. Some say the keeper Ochoa was at fault but the shot was powerful and curved just out of reach of the America goal keeper. Maybe, Memo could have been positioned a little closer to the goal line, but he then would have exposed his sides from a low level shot.
What was disgraceful was America’s lack of offense and finishing as More Mosqueda seemed to provide some stability in the midfield, but Cabañas and company couldn’t put it in the net.
The woes still continue for America.

Albert, any idea how I can get tickets for the River Plate match? I’m going to be in Mex City and I’m looking to get to Azteca for the rumble.

Try ticketmaster, I believe there is a Mexican site that will sell tickets.
